📆 Save the date! September 29, 4:30 pm, Terra Madre Salone del Gusto, Turin 🇮🇹
🐏 Our very own Cassiano Luminati, director at Polo Poschiavo, takes our discourse on wool to TerraMadre Salone del Gusto for Slow Food. The panel will tackle one of the central themes of AlpTextyles: the loss of circularity in the textile industry and how local wool has turned into a waste product, with a focus on Italy’s case.
🐑 In the past, wool brought wealth to the country, with sheep raised for their valuable fleece. Today, most of the Merino wool we use is imported, and local sheep farming is in decline.
🌲 How did we end up like this? Why did wool start becoming a waste product? Our choices, even in fashion, can make a difference. Wool must return to being a resource—for the livelihoods of shepherds, the health of our ecosystems, and to tackle climate challenges.
To participate to the panel, you can register for free here.
