First results of the ADAPTNOW project were presented at a regional meeting of municipalities participating in the European Energy Award program in Memmingen end of September this year.
With more and more frequent extreme wheather events in the Bavarian alpine region, climate adaptation is becoming increasingly relevant. Which climate adaptation tools are already available, which adaptation projects are already ongoing? Insights from the first working package of the ADAPTNOW project were presented at the meeting: the interactive tool „Klimacheck“ for analysing risks and vulnerability of municipalities and Klimafolgenonline – an onlinebased platform for simulating climate parameters in different climate scenarios until 2100 as well as ongoing projects for climate-adapted forest restructuring and bog restoration. For municipalities not yet involved in climate adaptation a new service developed in second work package of ADAPTNOW offers a package of risk analysis, stakeholder engagement, action planning and communication in order to raise awareness on climate adaptation.
