Kick-Off Apollo project

Sep 17, 2024

Recently, the Municipality of Saluzzo hosted the “kick-off” of “Apollo”, the event marking the start of the cross-border project within “Alpine Space,” the European Interreg program that funds cooperation actions between seven Alpine countries: Italy, Austria, France, Germany, Liechtenstein, Slovenia, and Switzerland.
The objective of “Apollo,” which has a duration of 3 years, is to reduce depopulation and aging in Alpine areas through opportunities for sharing services, thanks to technological and digital tools, for both workers and the resident communities in the Alpine area in question.
“The heart of the project,” explained Mayor Franco Demaria and Councilor Attilia Gullino, “will be the implementation of pilot actions that will take place in all four of the Apollo countries and will serve to develop so-called best practices for the adoption of policies to support territorial welfare by governments and regions.”
The Municipality of Saluzzo is the leader of a diverse partnership composed of ten entities, including regions, municipalities, universities, and research institutes from three other countries besides Italy: Austria, Germany, and Slovenia. On Wednesday, September 18th, and Thursday, September 19th, about thirty officials and operators from “Apollo” gathered at “Il Quartiere” in Saluzzo for a joint and general presentation of the actions outlined in the dossier and to plan the first concrete steps.
