14th-19th April 2024, Vienna (AT): MOSAIC was present at the EGU24 General Assembly, which welcomed 20,979 registered attendees, of which 18,388 made their way to Vienna from 116 countries and 2,591 joined online from 109 countries. It was a great success with 18,896 presentations given in 1,044 sessions. Our colleagues Andrey Krasovskiy and Shelby Corning co-convened the session “Spatial and temporal patterns of wildfires: models, theory, and reality.” Some of the presentations given were in relation to cascading hazards and the complexities of wildfire modeling in mountainous regions. Our colleagues Giulia Mantero and Donato Morresi along with Tommaso Baggio and Davide Marangon co-convened the session on natural disturbances and compound events entitled “Natural Disturbances in a Changing World: Detecting, Modeling, and Managing Novel Threats in Forest Ecosystems”. The session hosted both poster and oral presentations and was attended by more than 50 people. The MOSAIC framework of compounding events, multiscale modeling, and management was the main focus of the entire session.
