Alpine Region as a Circular Economy Model Region

Nov 21, 2024

We are thrilled to share that our project partner, Dr. Jernej Pintar, Director of Technology Park Ljubljana, opened the EUSALP panel titled “Could the Alpine Region Become a Circular Economy Model Region?” The event was part of the 9th Annual Forum of EUSALP, hosted by the Slovenian Presidency of the EUSALP macroregion.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Pintar emphasized the immense potential of the Alpine region to lead the way in sustainable transformation. He highlighted three key pillars for this transition:

  1. Embracing advanced technologies,
  2. Strengthening regional unity across the Alpine region, and
  3. Establishing a CIRCULAR ALP HUB to showcase frontrunners and promote best practices in circular economy within the Alpine region, across other macroregions, and globally.

He also underscored the importance of two transformative projects—BAUHALPS and RECENTRE—both co-financed by the Alpine Space Programme. These initiatives aim to accelerate the Alpine region’s shift toward a circular economy.

BAUHALPS focuses on supporting the construction sector in adopting circular principles, inspired by the New European Bauhaus framework.
RECENTRE seeks to revolutionize manufacturing by integrating tools for Industry 5.0 and enhancing workforce resilience.

With an attention to set-up the CIRCULAR ALP HUB within the Slovenian presidency of the EUSALP 2024 the Technology Park Ljubljana as a coordinator of the EUSALP cross-cutting priority 4 on circular economy under the leadership of the EUSALP’s Action Group 2 is kindly asking you and/or your organisation to sign a non-binding the Letter of Intent HERE to support the establishment of the CIRCULAR ALP HUB.

Join us! Together, we are building a more resilient and sustainable future of the Alpine region.
