BAUHALPS Kick-Off in Venice: Partnering for a Circular Future in the Alpine Region

Nov 11, 2024

The BAUHALPS Project Kick-Off Meeting in Venice: Paving the Way for a Greener Building Sector in the Alpine Region

The BAUHALPS project, launched under the Alpine Space Program, held its first project meeting on November 4-5, 2024, in Venice-Mestre at Fondazione Forte Marghera.

We are excited to embark on this journey with our partners from across Europe, working together towards a sustainable, circular, and resource-efficient future for the Alpine building sector.

About BAUHALPS: The project aligns with the New European Bauhaus (NEB) principles by combining sustainability, inclusivity, and aesthetics to help reshape construction practices.

Our mission is to reduce environmental impacts while promoting carbon-neutral and circular building models.

Project Focus and Objectives:

  • Circular building practices: testing innovative models that combine modern technology with traditional Alpine construction techniques
  • Spirit of place: preserving Alpine heritage by incorporating local traditions into sustainable designs
  • Environmental standards: ensuring compliance with NEB and Do No Significant Harm (DNSH) principles to reflect EU environmental commitments

Expected outcomes include:

  • A Circularity Toolkit, providing practical guidance for businesses and public institutions
  • Pilot actions, featuring real-world examples of sustainable construction across the Alpine regions
  • An Action Plan, outlining a long-term strategy for green transformation

Kick-off agenda highlights included partner introductions, project presentations, discussions on pilot activities, communication strategies, financial planning, as well as a social dinner and a site visit to Forte Marghera.

We extend our thanks to the project lead, Fondazione Università Ca’ Foscari, and to all dedicated partners.

Together, we will make sustainable Alpine architecture a reality.
