DiMark Project Attends 9th Annual Forum of the EU Strategy for the Alpine Region

Nov 19, 2024

On November 14, 2024, members of the DiMark team participated in the 9th Annual Forum of the EU Strategy for the Alpine Region (EUSALP), hosted by the Slovenian Presidency at Brdo pri Kranju, Slovenia. This event is a central gathering for policymakers, experts, and stakeholders working toward sustainable development across the Alpine region.

We were particularly interested in the panel discussion on “Climate Resilient Water Management in the Alpine Region,” which addressed the increasing impacts of climate change on water resources. The panel discussed the challenges posed by more frequent and intense weather events – such as floods, erosion, landslides, and droughts—that affect both the environment and communities in the region.

Key speakers included Lidija Globevnik, Director-General of the Water Directorate at Slovenia’s Ministry for Natural Resources and Spatial Planning; Blaž Mozetič, Director of Planning at the Slovenian Water Agency; Blaž Lipovšek from the Youth Parliament of the Sava Commission; and Marco Lipizer, representing the River Contract for Friuli Venezia Giulia, Italy. Aleš Bizjak from Slovenia’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Spatial Planning moderated the session.

The DiMark project aligns with these themes, as our work also addresses water management challenges in the Alpine region, focusing on adapting to climate change and mitigating risks through advanced technologies and collaborative strategies. Engaging with experts and policymakers at EUSALP provided invaluable insights and strengthened our commitment to sustainable water resource management.
