At Ecomondo 2024, the leading event dedicated to technological innovation and environmental sustainability, held from November 5th to 8th at the Rimini Expo Centre, DIVERSE Lead partner, RSE, collaborated with the Ecomondo Scientific Technical Committee to organize the conference titled “Sustainability and Circularity in Bioenergy Production.”
The conference emphasized the significance of developing advanced solutions for renewable energy production and optimizing bioenergy production cycles. The program featured key presentations from industry experts, addressing fundamental topics for the future of bioenergy and its integration into circular economy models.
Chaired by Michele de Nigris, Director of the SFE Department – Sustainable Development and Energy Sources, the conference featured an opening speech by Franco Cotana, CEO of RSE, who provided an introductory perspective on the importance of sustainability in bioenergy.
The first technical presentation by RSE, delivered by Domenico Cipriano from the Sustainable Development and Energy Sources Department, focused on “Emissions from Biomass: Myths and Realities.” Cipriano explored the real environmental impacts of biomass use, supported by updated data and analysis.
Another significant RSE contribution came from Cristina Cavicchioli, Project Manager from the Energy Systems Development Department, who presented the European project DIVERSE. This initiative aims to integrate sustainability criteria and biodiversity protection into bioenergy production, supporting the development of low-carbon energy mixes in Alpine Space regions.
The session concluded with closing remarks by Michele de Nigris, reaffirming RSE’s commitment to sustainability and circularity in bioenergy.
