đ October 19th, Festa de lo Pan Ner, Poschiavo (CH)
đ„ Itâs that time of year again! Food, history, and textile enthusiasts across the alpine communities can gather together to celebrate the 9th edition of the initiative that celebrates the making of the traditionally dark rye bread (Pan Ner literally translates to âblack breadâ).
đ This year, too, the food-focused event will integrate to the textile tradition of the area: from the brasciadĂšla loaf to the quĂšrta da retĂ i (a scrap quilt), the Festa will allow visitors to experience firsthand these precious forms of intangible cultural heritage with the support of hashtag#AlpTextyles.
â° The rural charm of the quilt made from linen and other fabricsâ scraps perfectly matches the broadening of our project to these natural fibers. For the occasion, visitors will be able to learn how itâs woven at the Valposchiavo Weaving Workshop and discover some of its countless color variations in a dedicated exhibition inside the Palazzo de Bassus-Mengotti.
đĄ Plus, Casa TomĂ© comes to life once again through the aromas and flavors of a past that remains fascinating and unexplored for the younger generation, evoking sweet memories for those who experienced it. There will be animals in the barn, cheese and homemade cakes, and of course, the typical Valposchiavo rye ring bread, baked in the ancient oven of the house. The brasciadĂšla will be sold fresh on-site, with the option to purchase an elegant sac dal pan, handcrafted by the Valposchiavo Weaving Workshop.
