Kick-off meeting in Trento

Feb 11, 2025

The official Kick-off meeting of the OUT4INGOV project took place recently in Trento, Italy. With partners from across the Alpine region, we launched a collaborative effort aimed at addressing the growing phenomenon of youth migration. Co-funded by the Interreg Alpine Space Programme, the OUT4INGOV project focuses on developing innovative governance mechanisms to strengthen cooperation between regions experiencing depopulation and those benefiting from the influx of skilled young professionals in the Alps.

The project unites 6 project partners from 4 Alpine countries. Over the next 20 months, innovative strategies and tools will be implemented, that aim to create a triple-win situation: supporting regions of origin, enhancing opportunities in destination regions, and empowering young migrants. The discussions emphasised fostering territorial cohesion, and promoting the circulation of skills and knowledge throughout the Alpine Space.

During our discussions, we drew a compelling parallel to a spider web. In this analogy, the young migrants represent the nodes—vital points of talent and potential. The connection lines symbolise the relationships and networks we aim to build through innovative governance approaches. And at the centre of this web? Our project itself, acting as the spider that weaves these connections together. Just as a spider web is strong and resilient, the goal of OUT4INGOV is to create an interconnected framework that supports not only the young individuals migrating, but also the communities they leave and those they join.

We are looking forward to the fruitful cooperation!
