Petrochemical dyes have established themselves in the textile industry. Thanks to their diversity and flexibility, these dyes have responded perfectly to the challenges of time in contexts of heavy industrialization and globalization of supply chain values. But, in an era where stakeholders and consumers are increasingly searching for and demanding more sustainable, localized, and carbon-free solutions, what alternatives are currently feasible and available?
Led by TECHTERA in collaboration with AlpTextyles, this workshop will highlight the relevance of natural dyes, their applications, and their place in the textile industry.
Speakers
Audrey Kuhn from the Swiss Institute Mediplant (AlpTextyles Project Partner) will present the company’s work on the extraction of pigments from dyeing plants endemic to the AlpsDavid Godinaud from ALLIANCE Machines Textiles will present a machine dedicated to bio-based dyeing
Riikka Räisänen from the University of Helsinki will share the progress of the Biocolour and Colours4Crafts projects on bio-based dyes of natural materials
